Bears!
On my No Man's Sky, which arrived on May 6, 2019, on a planet I called Naboo (as it resembles parts of Naboo from Star Wars) I discovered 4 new fauna species. Tree of which resembled bears. One I renamed Yao Gai after the Yao Guai from Fallout, because it looks like one. Then, I renamed another Yao Gau which is a mix between a bear, turtle, and deer. And the third of the "bears" I called Yaoverine, because it looks like a bear and wolverine, the males of the species have spikes like a hedgehog, but the females don't.
Adding Pictures to galleries on pages
I have notivced that some people have images of items that tey want to add to the wiki on pages (potals, tech, text ect.). Let me show you how!
- Take the photo, obviously you need to have taken the snapshot in order to add it
- Go to the page you want to add the photo to
- Find the gallery (usually at the bottom)
- Click "Add photo to this gallery" at the bottom of the gallery
- Follow the instructions to get you Image up there!
I hope to see many new images from everyone!
Planets on No Man's Sky
I think that in their next few updates, Hello Games should put gas giants into the game. I don't think that they should be there to walk on and discover, but add more detail to the game and add gas elements.
Can I make pages on what planets and species I find?
Hi guys!, I started playing no mans sky on the 17th, and I've really liked it. I have had a burning question ever since I found this wiki, can I people (And I) make pages on what we've found in our games?,
Thanks!

Handy Tricks for New Players
Alternatively titled: What I Wish I Knew When I Started.
This here is a short, hopefully concise list of little tips and tricks for exploring and getting around No Man's Sky, the little things I discovered so hopefully you can avoid the mistakes I made.
- 1 Starship slots are bigger than Exosuit slots.
- 2 Sentinels do not fight fair.
- 3 Do not be afraid to run.
- 4 Where you put what matters.
That's right, a starship slot can hold up to 500 units of an element per slot. An Exosuit slot can only hold 250. Meaning you can free up two slots in your suit and only take up one in your ship. Because of this I like to transfer full stacks of elements to my ship in pairs. Also, I make sure to keep unstackle items like Vy'keen Daggers and Fascination Beads on my su…
Tech Placement
So where you place your tech is important as placing it next to each other causes an outline around all connected tech and gives a stacking bonus. That being said.. what do I need to build stamina enhancement upgrades next to? Might need a page covering this area of the game.. hell it might exist alrready and I just didnt find it.
Hi from the Spanish Wiki
Hi users of No Man's Sky's wiki!
I'm ElNinjaZidane, administrator of No Man's Sky's wiki in Spanish and I'm writing this to say hello and welcome to everybody who starts to play No Man's Sky. The game was released some days ago and I think both of the wikis are ready for this challenge. I think we will work together since now with the objective of having a big Wikia's community of No Man's Sky.
Sorry for my English :p and try to discover more planets!
I send my greetings to all of you from the Spanish's Wiki !
Bravo
I'd like to say that everything is looking amazing, especially for a new wiki. I'm surprised I beat the hype here.
Lists of 'things'
Procedural generation coupled with an evolution engine will inevitably generate almost infinite FORMS of whatever it is applied to: we know there are over 18 quintillion planets in the game for instance and an unknown number of evolved animal forms (just the named ones, let alone the unnamed ones). But the same will be true for space ships, plants, animals, possibly even for weapons. Administrators have already agreed that this site is not the best place to list details of every planet anyone ever discovers (no-one else may ever go there anyway). This principle has been suspended in advance of the games release, to allow enjoyment of the 'teaser' effect and help us all learn a little about the game from the very sketchy information released …
New main catagory system
After watching the trailer about the survival aspects of the game i came up with the idea that it might be a good idea if we used the titles of the trailers as main catagories (w/ sub-catagories).
For example:
Explore(biomes, lore, flora and fauna)
Fight(spacecrafts and weapons)
Trade(materials, economics, recources)
Survival(weather, suit)
I heard there will be different kinds of spacecraft for every catagory so it could be a possibility all 3/4 catagories will have their own spacecraft section. I'm not sure if the in-game items and the upgrade materials should be a catagory on its own or part of the trade section.
Staff on the wikia?
Does this wikia have any form of staff? I feel it could use it, Twtbird seems like he/she would make a great head staff member
Don't bother with individual planets and moons
I really don't think we should try to make a page for every planet that you come across, but rather just pages for the type of planets. The colour of solar systems on the Galactic Map should be used instead as a way to catigorise them. All red solar systems may have a common feature so that should be explained and the differance between each colour. Maybe red systems have more of certain resources, things like that will be far more efficient than having to making 18,000,000,000,000,000,000 pages describing resources on each planet.
